

Right off the subway, you see Columbus Branch Library. Just a few decades ago, libraries here would have been the least amount of interest, but now with gentrification, the area is opening up new buildings to turn Hell's Kitchen away from the connotations it used to have.

Taken down a row of restaurants, I captured two pride flags. Down this avenue, I noted many LGBTQ bars and restaurants with their flag outside. In comparison to history where Hell's Kitchen carried great violence toward several marginalized populations, this seems to be a great symbol of the city moving away from hatred.

Though this has been the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater since 1977, this building used to be Fire Engine company No. 54 (The Designated).
